VIDEO BLOG IS AT THE BOTTOM
So, I finished my 8-Week 5K Training program. I did really great on consistency. Had to take almost a week off due to Lupus issues, but other than that I did great.
I knew going into this that I wasn’t going to go from walking to running a whole 3 miles in just 8 weeks. That’s not the point at all!! The point was to develop a regular routine of exercise, at a level of difficulty that would produce improvement. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!
On Saturday I jumped on the treadmill and set out to run as much of the 3.1 miles as I could. I didn’t time my intervals at all. I just ran until I couldn’t, then I walked until I recovered. I did all 3.1 miles in 43 minutes! PROUD MOMENT!!!!
Am I done? Hell no!!!!! I’m going to revamp the program with my friend/coach Renee at Body and Mind Strong. I’m going to work towards my ultimate goal of 30 minutes of nonstop running. If for some reaon Lupus keeps me from that goal, which it might. I’ll be just fine. Walking is great exercise, especially when done at a very brisk pace. It’s not an “all or nothing” type a thang. It’s a “do what you can, when you can, as often as you can” type a thang! SO GET BACK OUT THERE AND MOVE MOVE MOVE!!!
